To my best friend

I love cats, they're probably my favourite creature in this world. I dislike
ranking animals but (if I had to) it would go 1. cats, 2. bunnies, 3. dogs and
all the others are on number 4. Despite my love for cats I never had a pet cat
but I did have a pet rabbit. His name is George.

I got George at a very young age, I can't tell you exactly how old I was but I
think I was around 6-7 years old. He was a gift from my godmother (I am told I
really wanted a pet rabbit back then) and he is the greatest gift I have ever
received.

I have so many great memories of him. One time I remember I made a cardboard
house and me and him sat in it. Another time I was trying to get him under an
old table we used to have in the living room and he bit me in the eye (not fun).
He was a HUGE fan of apples too, sure he loved bananas and carrots too but
apples he went crazy for. One time my mom made a fruit salad and I sat next to
him and we shared some.

As the years passed, he got older and older and slowly started losing his energy
to do stuff. He would refuse to leave his cage and would jut lay down, half asleep.
Everyday when I would wake up, I always checked up on him and he was always laying
down. I never missed a day; I always visited him, no matter what.

George passed away on November 2024. We went and buried him on top of a mountain
near our home. I really wish I could pet his fur one more time, I wish I could
hold him one more time, I wish I could wake up to him outside again. I grew up
with him, I saw myself change as time passed; I saw myself grow and he was always
there. And now, now that he isn't here, I finally feel kind of happy with myself.
I wish he could he see that right now, I really do. This isn't supposed to be
"just another post"; this is so much more to me, it's a way to immortalize George
forever because that is what he deserves. I don't want to ever forget about him,
I want to look back in my life and see him in the corner, I want him to be my balloon.

I miss you buddy. You really were my best friend.
